Remember this wine? Our long-since sold out world-beating Quarter Acre 2015 Syrah which won top honours at last year's International Wine Competition taking out the trophy for top red wine of show/the world!!...well, we've donated a single bottle, along with 23 others from across our range, to The Cocktail Party auction this Friday.
Our auction is a silent one and you can bid on it now if you wish...it may be your only chance to pry a bottle of this Syrah out of Rod's hands in the next very long while....!!
The Loom. "Every day there are countless waves, but every day there will be one that is the very best. That's the loom. The best wave of the day. Guess the big challenge is that you never know if the wave you're about to catch is the loom, the one, or whether it's in fact going to be in the next set. So you've got to be out there a lot and the longer you're out there, the better chance you'll have of seeing it and riding it.
Growing grapes and making wine can be like that. The year is long, from the first leaves of spring until the fruit’s final day on the vine, deciding when to pick, that's our wave. Once we're on it, we're committed and it sets up everything that then happens in the winery, ending in what we are able to create for the bottle." RM.
Aidan Stenning now here's a wine with a story for you...
New kit alert. Yessiree new kit arriving in time for August. This is an addition to our Te Awanga range - a reserve! - and probably more importantly, a reserve Chardonnay which is a varietal we’re a little light on at the mo. Heading to our Cellar Door next week. ... New branch out for our Te Awanga range. Anyone, anyone...The Loom...do you know what it means...? .. ... See MoreSee Less
Was there a wool carding factory nearby at some time?
Sarah Isabella Marnie Nathan!!!
Because it sounded better with the m on the end for business purposes?
Robyn McLean is better at guessing ... but the nerd in me looked it up - best wave of the day?
Looks incredible BTW - might switch from Strawberry Blonde for a bit!
the amateur meteorologist in me wants to say LOOM could be due to atmospheric anomalies that cause light to bend in unusual ways....producing some rather striking extraordinary visual phenomena especially on the horizon on seascapes? Considering the location of Te Awanga vineyard would be perfect to witness such phenomena over a glass of delicious chardonnay at dawn? Do I win?
So ...,..whats the guts? Is she right? 😋😎🤩
Looks loverly....what’s the bully? Xxx
Good looking bottle and great easy to remember name ,what ever it means
1. The Dinner Party. Check out our new website - it should be a lot simpler to drive! - and if you would like to order any wine, pop in the code 321BLASTOFF at the check out and we'll shout you the shipping all weekend, until the end of Monday in fact.
1. The Dinner Party So we got to thinking. What's the most important part about making wine? The drinking of it, we think. But more importantly, who you drink it with, why you are drinking it, where you are drinking it and the feelings it brings when you drink it.
So a few weeks back, we invited some friends to dinner and tried to convey through a series of photos what happens when you drink our wine...The Dinner Party. They are left of centre, not perfectly styled, there's sauce on the table cloth and lipstick on the wine glasses, things don't quite line up...and that's just how it should be.
Delicious. So much deliciousness in these photos! Last night we had a blast at our winter F.A.W.C event, Keeping Up With the Kanagaratnams...which, true to form, I couldn't! But what a fabulous meal cooked with so much love by Mrs Kanagaratnam, a million thank yous, and so too to sous chef Robbie and wait staff Trace.
Oh my soul, boy how we dined! Plenty of authentic Sri Lankan deliciousness for all - chicken + beef curry, garlic bean curry (dreamy beans!), paripoo (Sri Lankan Dahl), coconut sambal, seeni (onion) sambal, brown and white rice and roti. Followed up by TA-made mango, pineapple, coconut, mint and lime sorbet, and topped off with trays of lovely gold-dusted meringues with kaffir and vanilla infused cream from our friend Emma. A wonderful team.
As for the wines, after a stellar mulled wine to kick things off by the brazier, we headed inside to bottles of One Off Pinot Gris, One Off Albariño, Te Awanga Syrah and a delectable Te Awanga 2013 Gewurtz from the cellar, which Rod's been itching for an excuse to open. While they all stood up admirably next to the curry, possibly the One Off Albariño was the crowd fave.
Many thanks to all who came out on a chilly winter's eve, we hope you put your jars of Mama K's secret curry powder to good use. 🙏 ... See MoreSee Less
